Volvo V60 Hybrid plug-in for return of the year
First under the name Volvo D6 and first diesel hybrid plug-in market. Wheel drive with 215 hp at the front with the help of an electric motor in the rear.
Last Volvo V60 launch a new hybrid that is plug and diesel. This opens a new market as this combination has not yet given.
The new V60 features a diesel engine that drives the front with an available 215 hp power. This is a 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine and 2.4 liters that is joined by other estimable electric power and that are 75 hp which can contribute to the system. The maximum torque is 440 Nm heat which is joined from the first shift of 200 Nm electric motor.
Volvo’s new hybrid has its peculiarities. It’s a 4×4, but to 120 km / h, and you can choose the type of driving. Besides the three types more or less usual, you can force a form to have at one time the largest electric range, and then also 4×4 driving force.
Driving modes
The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid has three main ways to be conducted:
- Normal automatic (Hybrid), in which everything works intelligently optimizing the delivery and recovery of electrical energy, coordinating the two engines in their respective shafts with the sole purpose of optimizing consumption. This happens in an economic way to a sportier depending on the application of the accelerator and driving.
- Economy, where the preference is electric mode (Pure). In this mode the car will always be moved preferably in electric mode as long as our leadership does not need a higher power for any reason prestacional or security, we will have up to 20 km of zero emission.
- The sport (Power), always try to make the most of the two engines in a more spirited driving.
But aside from these three modes, we can force a maximum battery reserve if we want to drive in electric mode elgún time. Thus, the system will try to maintain as possible to the battery charged when we use the mode “Pure” and be close to 20 km of autonomy 100% electric.
Finally, if we force the 4×4, the system always ensure that the rear has power available continuously recharging the battery so you do not stop with just front wheel drive.

The first units of the new V60 plug-in hybrid will be available in early 2012 and the 1000 first units are only available in Electric Silver. The vehicle is also distinguished by its 17 “wheels aerodynamics, exhaust pipes and various options embedded in glossy black body, as the grille and aerodynamic front spoiler.

The traditional analog gauges have been replaced by an LED display of a piece that offers a wide range of viewing options. The driver can choose the information you want to see through the menu settings of the vehicle. You can also communicate with the vehicle through mobile applications. This gives the owner access to various functions like air conditioning, precooling and postrefrigeración, and a reminder to connect the charging cable if you have not done in a predetermined period.
Recharge in 3 hours
The recharge time, which is done in a conventional plug 220, it becomes 3.5 hours in a 16-amp outlet, but not necessarily have to have a phase with the power equivalent to 3,500 W, if we do in 10 amp outlet can also be one that lengthens the charging time to 4.5 hours or 7.5 if done in a power of only 6 amps (1,320 W at 220V).
It is also possible to heat or cool the passenger compartment during charging to get a start of the journey more comfortable. This also means that more battery is used to propel the vehicle really.
